EXFO’s EX1, paired with your smart device is a one-of-kind GPON*tester designed to qualify Fibre to the Home (FTTH) installationsaccording to the specifications of ZTV-43. The pocket-sized EX1solution enables technicians to validate the correct PON-ID as wellas total optical power loss. This automated test and measurementprocedure tests for permutation up to the OLT and Insertion lossmeasurement (OLT to Gf - AP), within the framework of NVt - Bvh(Vzk), which can only be performed after the OLT is connected. -With the PON-FMT application and the EX1, acceptance measurement ofthe insertion loss is measured at the wavelength 1490 nm. - Theinsertion loss is calculated from the difference in level betweenthe transmit level of the OLT port (SFP module) and the receivelevel at the OneBox. - In addition, the OLT port is identified bymeans of the PON ID (PON Identifier according to ITU-T G.984.3). -The acceptance measurement takes place in the course of Gf - APassembly. Immediately after the assembly of the Gf - AP is the sameoperation the PON-FMT is performed with a special level receiver.The EX1 test solution does not need a screen; all manipulations arehandled via the ultra-intuitive PON FMT application running on thefield technician’s mobile smart device. All the required tasks areperformed through this application: connection, setup and reportgeneration. The EX1 uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technologywhich enables untethered testing capabilities – connecting directlyto a smart phone or tablet.
